Feathers

Back in 700AD, the Native Americans created the dreamcatcher. Hung above a bed and used to protect sleeping children from nightmares, allowing only good dreams to filter through.

Feathers have expanded into mainstream fashion in recent years. They are not restricted to costume and haute couture anymore. Feathers were originally used for the Native American headdresses, masquerade masks in 16th Century Europe, then the more contemporary feather boa used in burlesque routines. Plucking feathers from birds causes them great pain and distress. A relatively new trend is feather hair extentions, worn by celebritites such as Miley Cyrus and Kesha. Over 1,500 roosters are slaughtered to create these accessories on one farm in Colorado each week.  We may have been intruiged by 'The Black Swan', we may aspire to be a Victoria's Secret Angel, but is this a fair price to pay?

With an influxation of reality TV such as 'The Only Way Is Essex' and 'Geordie Shore', fake eyelashes have become part of the day to day routine. The basic lashes will make do for work, but girls are now searching for that extra pazaz for a night out on the town. The answer, feather eyelashes.
