Decay

15-37% of plant and animal species could wipe out by 2050 due to global warming. Shocking figures. With temperatures rising, droughts are causing trees to die and rot. They then release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which adds to the vicious cycle. Rainforests once covered 14% of the earth's land surface; now they cover a mere 6% and experts estimate that the last remaining rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years. Alongside global warming, rainforests also suffer from deforestation from the developing world.

I predict that with the rapid rate of decay, fashion will be inspired by this. Although devastating results wont take place for many years, man will feel guilty for its impact on nature and the effects that are already happening. Is decay inevitable or preventable? Was it too little too late?

Clothing will appear moth eaten and worn away. Fabrics like chiffon and lace will be weathered and effortlessly draped. Colours will be muted, aged, and slightly dirty.

Makeup will be natural, with emphasis on cheeks and eyes. Using only earth tones, mainly browns. These colours will imitate the outside world, the mud, the rot, the rust.

Jewellry will be rusted and aged. Metal will not be shiny. There will be a lack of colour. However, aunate shapes will make the jewellry interesting and be each items unique statement.

Styles will be vintage and antique.
