Tropical Punch

The 'Tropical' trend draws inspiration from all over the globe, including the Asian tropics, Vietnam rainforests and the beautiful beaches of Thailand. The bold prints and colours are reminiscent of the plants and wildlife found in these areas.

Brands such as Topshop (skirt above) and Versace for H&M have drawn upon these areas.

Mary Katrantzou - "My work is normally so graphic, and I just wanted to see how I would approach an animal print or a flower. It was a long journey for me. I’ve used nature in a very  repetitive way so that the images would become like pixels.’That repetition came in the form of bands of horizontal
flowers in clashing shades cutting across the lines of a suit; and easy floral knits shrugged over a pencil skirt in the same design, but shiny and slick like cellophane."

Tropical rainforests need lots of moisture to thrive, and due to global warming, rainfall is descreasing. This also causes temperatures to rise, affecting the rate that the plants can photosynthesise. This is turn will affect the animals that live in the tropics. Will this soon be the end of the tropical trend?
